SONG OF THE WEEK : TEGAN AND SARA “Goodbye Goodbye” [Numero 79]

    *ABOUT*

    ITALIANO

    Tegan-Sara

Il singolo segue l’uscita di “Closer” e del fantastico “I Was a Fool” (che già suggerii come SONG OF THE WEEK svariati mesi fa) ed è disponibile come singolo dal 17 Settembre. Non perdetevelo!

    ENGLISH

This week i’ve chosen “Goodbye Goodbye” the newest single from Canadian indie rock synthpop duo Tegan and Sara , taken from their seventh album “Heartthrob”, which reached number 3 on the Billboard 200 and sold more than 150,000 copies.

    tegan-and-sara-1-w724

The song is one of my favourite in the album and of my faves ever from the duo , active since the mid 90s, and represents in a good way their constant improvement in sounds and lyrics , and look style too. “Goodbye Goodbye” is a synthpop song highly recognizable as Tegan and Sara ‘s production.

    tegan-and-sara-4ddb058097019

The song , like its official video , deals with different types of “goodbyes” in love relationships .

The single follows “Closer” and the great “I Was a Fool” ( which i’ve already chosen several months ago in this SONG OF THE WEEK section ) and it’s available as a single since September 17. Go and buy it, you won’t regret it.

    *TESTO / LYRICS*

     Goodbye
    I don’t wanna
    Feel the need
    To hear your voice

    Goodbye
    I don’t wanna
    Feel the need
    To see your face

    I can’t live with
All these things I would say
    I can’t live with
All these things that I say

    Goodbye, goodbye
    Goodbye, goodbye
    Like the first time

    Goodbye, goodbye
    Goodbye, goodbye
    Like the first time

    You never really knew me
Never ever, never ever saw me
    Saw me like they did

    You never really loved me
Never really, never really loved me
    Loved me like they did

    With some time
    I might wanna
    See the way
    That you changed

    With some time
    I might wanna
    See how you’ve been
    What you cannot blame

    I can’t stand it
    All these things I forego
    I can’t stand it
All these things I’ve let got

    Goodbye, goodbye
    Goodbye, goodbye
    Like the first time

    Goodbye, goodbye
    Goodbye, goodbye
    Like the first time

    You never really knew me
Never ever, never ever saw me
    Saw me like they did

    You never really loved me
Never really, never really loved me
    Loved me like they did

    You coulda told me
    Goodbye
    You coulda told me
    Goodbye

    You let me try
Knowing there was nothing I could do
    To change you

    You coulda warned me
Knowing there was nothing I could do
    To change you

    You never really knew me
Never ever, never ever saw me
    Saw me like they did

    You never really loved me
Never really, never really loved me
    Loved me like they did

    Goodbye, goodbye
    Goodbye, goodbye
    Like the first time

    Goodbye, goodbye
    Goodbye, goodbye
    Like the first time

    You never really knew me
Never ever, never ever saw me
    Saw me like they did

    You never really loved me
Never really, never really loved me
    Loved me like they did

SONG OF THE WEEK: TEGAN AND SARA “I Was a Fool” [Numero 55]

Cinquantacinquesimo ”numero” della mia nuova rubrica SONG OF THE WEEK, consigli personali sui nuovi pezzi che ritengo interessanti o,quanto meno, degni di nota rispetto ad altri nel mondo del mainstream musicale. *ABOUT*

    ENGLISH:

This week i’ve chosen “I Was  A Fool”, of Canadian indie pop rock’s duo Tegan & Sara, identical twin sisters who are around in the music industry since 1995, for those who didn’t know.

The tune is included in their seventh studio album, “Heartthrob”, released a couple of weeks ago and peaked at number 3 in USA, with around 50,000 copies sold in the first 7 days, very good result for indie artists.

The first single of this new album is “Closer”, electro indie tune, but my attentions is focused on this “I Was a Fool”, magistral ballad, that i consider the highlight of the album by far.

    730142-tegan-and-sara

The lyrics are about a person in love who always forgives his beloved one, saving him multiple times from itself, and is this natural strenght to give ourselves completely to the ones we love that, at the same time, makes us “stupid” “fool”, and we lose sight of our priorities, sometimes dignity, and it all comes down to a single call, a message, a sign we desperately look for when there are troubles in a couple or ewhen verything is about to crash.

Piano, voices and melody of this song are really timeless and i suggest everyone to listen to it cause everyone can really relate to it, and the cool thing is that this is of the rare songs who can appeal to everyone without being too much commercial, dull or too simple. This tune is impressive and will stand the test of time, in my opinion.

I really hope “I Was a Fool” will be chosen as a single, don’t mind if the second or third, because this really deserves to be heard from a wider audience than the fans who have bought or will buy this interesting album.

    tegan-and-sara-1-w724

    *TESTO*

Do you remember I searched you out How I climbed your city’s walls Do you remember me as devout How I prayed for your calls I stood still, it’s what I did Love like ours just never fits I stuck around I did behave I saved you every time I was a fool for love I was a fool for love I was a fool [x2] Then you blame me and block me out How long did you think I’d last Then you disappeared for weeks to pout How many times could I pack But stand still, it’s all I did Love like ours just never fits Still I stuck around I did behave I saved you every time I was a fool for love I was a fool for love I was a fool [x2] If you’re worried that I might’ve changed Left behind all of my foolish ways You best be looking for somebody else Without a foolish heart A foolish heart But stand still is all we did Love like ours just never fits I stuck around I did behave I saved you every time I was a fool for love I was a fool for love I was a fool [x5]
