SONG OF THE WEEK: PINK FT. NATE RUESS “Just Give Me A Reason” [Numero 56]
Cinquantaseiesimo ”numero” della mia nuova rubrica SONG OF THE WEEK, consigli personali sui nuovi pezzi che ritengo interessanti o,quanto meno,degni di nota rispetto ad altri nel mondo del mainstream musicale. Non tutto il commerciale è da buttare,e spero che con questa rubrica lo possa dimostrare.

Per questa settimana ho scelto “Just Give Me A Reason”, il terzo singolo estratto da “The Truth About Love”, ultimo, epico, lavoro di Pink, una delle più grandi star e voci della musica pop attuale.
Il brano, una energica ballad, vede la collaborazione di Nate Ruess, il frontman dei fun., la band rivelazione del 2012, divenuta famosa per i brani “We Are Young” e “Some Nights“.
“Just Give Me A Reason” è una toccante canzone d’amore che parla di un rapporto in seria crisi, in cui entrambe le parti si sono ampiamente accorte che la situazione sta sfuggendo loro di mano ma, allo stesso tempo, sono convinti entrambi che possono recuperare la fiducia e l’amore che nutrono verso sé stessi ritrovando le “ragioni” del loro amore, i motivi per i quali i due partner si sono avvicinati e si sono scelti fra gli altri.
“I’m not broken, just bent” , dice Pink, parla solo di una flessione non di una rottura, come una pianta che si affloscia un pochino col tempo e che ha bisogno di nuova linfa vitale per tornare rigogliosa e forte.
Il brano, interpretato in modo magristrale da queste due voci intense e particolari, Pink sempre meglio anno dopo anno, arriva a ruota dopo una serie di singoli di grande successo per Pink, che ormai è sempre più inarrestabile in praticamente tutto il mondo.
“Just Give Me a Reason” uscirà ufficialmente il 26 febbraio in USA e il 18 marzo in UK, ma il singolo è già arrivato al #24 in USA a causa di un forte downloading del brano subito dopo l’uscita del videoclip ufficiale che, oltre a Pink e Ruess, vede anche Carey Hart, il marito della popstar, come protagonista maschile.

This week i’ve chosen “Just Give Me A Reason”, third single taken from the Pink’s sixth album ,”The Truth About Love” (more than 2,5 million copies sold in 5 months).
The tune, energic ballad, shows the collaboration between Pink and Nate Ruess, frontman of fun., one of the best new artists of 2012, came to prominence with such songs as “We Are Young” and “Some Nights”.
“Just Give Me A Reason” is a touching love songs dealing with a relatinship going through hard times, in which both the parts are completely aware of their situation and that everything’s slipping out of theri hands but, at the same time, they’re convinced that’s a way out and that they try to solve it all, finding back the reasons and motivations of their love. The reasons why they have chosen each other, instead of other people, to stay together.
“I’m not broken, just bent”, says Pink, it’s not a break up it’s just a phase in which sometimes you lose the sense of something and you need new points of view, new vital signs to make that love survive and carry on, stronger than before.
The song, magistrally interpreted by these two great voices, with a Pink who gets better and better each year, comes after a string of great hits, like “Blow Me” and “Try”, the latter who’s selling a lot even right now that the new song is about to be released, especially in Italy and Usa.
“Just Give Me a Reason” will be finally released the 26th of February in US and the 18th of March in UK, but there in UK the single, thanks to a strong downloading after the official video’s premiere, has already charted at number 24, and sees the guest starring of Carey Hart, Pink’s real husband, to which the song was dedicated, and overall “Funhouse” and “The Truth About Love” albums.
